Topic Introduction:
Water, as an essential resource for the survival of humanity, also plays an important role when it comes to health. The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the World Health Organization (WHO) estimate that currently, around 1.1 billion people cannot access a sufficient amount of water supply and 2.6 billion people lack adequate sanitation. With an estimated 1.6 million staggering deaths every year from diseases related to the access of unsafe drinking water, poor sanitation, and insufficient hygiene, water scarcity could become an unignorable challenge when it comes to public health and human development. This year at HSMUN, the delegates of WHO will not only try to understand the relation between water shortage and health problems but also try to come up with solutions to the real world problems.

Charlie Huang, Chair of WHO
Hi, my name is Charlie Huang, and I am currently a sophomore at National Yang-Ming University majoring in Medicine. This year at HSMUN, I will serve as the Chair of the World Health Organization. Aside from my Model United Nations career, I also like to perform magic, make friends, party, and live a decluttered lifestyle. I currently live by the motto "Go Do Something", as it reminds me all the time to try everything and hold on to every opportunity since there are always new chances to learn new stuff. I believe Model United Nations is an amazing opportunity, filled with unlimited possibilities, and is definitely worthwhile to give it a shot. MUN is not only a place to discuss issues and look for solutions to real-world problems but a place to equip oneself with abilities to face real-life challenges in the future. I am absolutely thrilled to chair this year’s conference and look forward to meeting you with a classic diplomat handshake! |
Genie Chen, Assistant Chair of WHO
Hello, I’m Genie, currently a sophomore studying at the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at National Taiwan University. Besides, in NTUMUN, I serve as the Officer of Project Planning. Also, I’m one of the head delegates of NTUMUN National MUN New York Delegation Team. In HSMUN 2018, I will be serving as an Assistant Chair of the World Health Organization. Through attending MUN conference, I met different people, researched on all sorts of international issues, and picked up more and more presentation skills from experiences. They are what make MUN so fascinating to me. In my free time, I like to watch TV series. My favorite one is “2 Broke Girls”. If you have any recommendations for me, I would be happy to know about that. Welcome to join HSMUN 2018 with us. I’m looking forward to seeing you guys. Hope all of you can enjoy yourself in this year's HSMUN! Bo Wu, Assistant Chair of WHO
I am Bo-Sheng Wu (Bo), currently a freshman majoring in Medicine at National Yang-Ming University. Due to several reasons, I lived in several countries around the world. Living in so many different places allowed me to possess adequate English skills and a somewhat broad view of the world. Something else my upbringing taught me is how to thrive with the change and use it to my advantage, something I found to be important for MUN conferences. I love making new friends and is looking forward to meeting you all. |
